after a night at anchor and motoring to the mooring in increasing wind, we tried the reefing, and found the second reef’s pennants were too short. Made a trip to the chandler and purchased more 6mm rope. Decided that due to
1) Strong wind forecast for 10days
2) Broken trailer
that I should abort the attempt this year. Try again later!
Launched – eventually – and spending the night at anchor in the creek with Captain Dave Knight. Unfortunately as we launched, the trailer decided to become a real break/broken back trailer, and returned to the compound in two pieces.
Hoping to leave early tomorrow morning for a shakedown sail to check everything is working OK.
Arrived this afternoon and found her in one piece. Staying on board overnight in the compound and launching on tomorrow afternoon tide. Wind NE at the moment, but forecast to back W at lunchtime tomorrow. Planning a shakedown sail across to Spurn Head tomorrow overnight or daytime, and setting off as early as possible on the morning tide Sunday. Hope the wind stays Westerly as forecast for the next few days……
Well it looks like the weather god may be smiling at the weekend, but with northerlies forecast for the following week around the Humber, I need to make the most of the Westerlies forecast at the weekend! So bringing forward embarcation to Sunday and hope to make Scarborough the first stop…..
